Mission

Barber County Development (BCD) is the economic development organization for Barber County. We’re here to assist small businesses, our community and workforce and in locating an industry or housing development in Barber County.

Medicine Lodge, Kansas, with a population of 2,100, is the County seat of Barber County (population 4,860) and is ideally located at the crossroads of KS HWY 281 and KS HWY 160.

Medicine Lodge is “The Gateway to Gyp Hills,” an area unique in middle America and unlike any other place in Kansas. It’s known for it’s red dirt with beautiful red buttes, deep canyons with vast expanses of range land.
